DomainKartta.fi provides high-fidelity, continuously audited intelligence on Finnish businesses and their digital presence. Here is how our ingestion pipeline and verification methodology operate.

1. Traficom .fi Domain Registry Data

We ingest official open data published by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom). This includes every newly granted, renewed, and transferred .fi domain name along with its official grant date, state, registrar name, and registry holder association.

2. PRH Company Registry & Business Matching

Domain records are cross-referenced with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) Virre database. For legal entities, we resolve the official business ID (Y-tunnus), company legal form (e.g., Osakeyhtiö, Toiminimi), municipality of registration, postal address, VAT liability status, and TOL 2008 industry classification.

Strict Evidence Standard: DomainKartta never creates speculative company links. A company association is published only when substantiated by official Traficom holder registration or verified corporate identification published on the active website itself.

3. 14-Day Recheck Cycle & Website Status Verification

Registering a domain is merely the first step. Our automated inspection engine analyzes each website on a rolling 14-day cycle. We classify every domain into verified functional states:

  • ACTIVE: A real, functional business website serving authentic content.
  • PARKED: Domain registrar landing page, placeholder, or domain parking page.
  • NO_SERVICE / ERROR: DNS unconfigured, server timeout, or unreachable endpoint.

4. Verified E-Commerce Detection & Contact Points

A website is designated as an e-commerce shop only when our engine detects verifiable transactional capabilities (shopping carts, checkout endpoints, payment gateway integrations like Paytrail, Stripe, Klarna, or Shopify). Contact emails and telephone numbers are normalized and filtered for publishability according to Finnish data governance standards.

5. Monthly Datasets & Historical Archiving

Each completed calendar month is compiled into a standalone versioned snapshot. Once published, the snapshot remains stable and immutable. Customers can purchase individual completed months via our Monthly Data Store for €45 per monthly dataset — one-time purchase, or subscribe to Starter for rolling access to the 3 most recent months with real-time change exports.
